4th Annual Almost Fringe Festival
Loosely based on the International fringe art Movement, this festival is a celebration of the Point Arena community and all things creative from traditional to cutting edge and artsy to agrarian.
This year’s festival kicks off at 10:00am with yoga in the park and the Wind & Whales Celebration at the Lighthouse with the Berkeley Kite Wranglers. Enjoy the Giant Kites, while watching the migrating whales and learning about them from whale experts, Scott and Tree Mercer who will have displays of baleen whale artifacts and answer questions about the marine mammals. The Lighthouse Gift Store will be offering sale prices on whale related gifts and other items.
Live Music will be playing in various locations and poets will read poetry in Centennial Plaza. Enjoy a high school drama club performance, as well as dancers and performance artists entertaining throughout Main Street.
A Pop-Up Craft Fair with a variety of vendors will be found at the Druids Hall from 11:00 to 5:00 and Art Openings will occur at Coast Highway Art Collective, Think Visual and The Chowder House.
The Library will host a black-out poetry, musical and art activities, while Action Network will have art projects, face painting, music, bubbles, at the park behind outback from 12-2.
Healing artists will be on hand providing a sound transmission healing bath, as well as mini-healing sessions.
Local restaurants and food venders will be providing special offerings and Point Arena’s newest eatery Gama will be serving Bento Boxes to go from 11:00-6:00 with Fringe-EE jewelry and ceramics on display, followed by Small Plates and Karaoke form 5:00 – 9:00.
